Defining Your Vision Venture
One of the most common questions young children hear is ‘what do you want to be when you grow up?’ The replies often focus on occupations like firefighter, ballerina, or astronaut. Kids aren’t concerned about the reality of their answers. They don’t think about things like how much money, time, or effort will be required to make these dreams come true. Children just see themselves in that role and happily accept that dream as their reality.
But over time, we become less enamored with our dreams and more focused on the reality of our current lives. We choose what is practical and expected in order to be responsible adults and functioning members of society. This isn’t always a bad thing, but we can fall into default mode. We do what we do because that’s just what we are expected to do.
Think about learning to walk. At first, we have to focus on moving the left foot and then the right foot (all while remaining in the upright position!). But soon we don’t pay attention to these things and just walk without much thought. As we get older, we put one foot in front of the other out of habit, but we sometimes forget we also once loved to skip or dance.
We aren’t always in default mode. Sometimes we might allow ourselves to daydream about what we really want to be when we grow up. When we do, there are moments when an idea starts to bubble or we feel a passion stirring for something more. Sure, it might not seem realistic. We might worry about the money, time, effort, and risk involved. But in those moments of the daydream, we see a vision of what could be.
That is why we have named this a ‘vision venture.’ If you’ve dreamed of starting your own business, or perhaps you’ve already made that leap, we want to give you the tools to make this dream a reality. It doesn’t even have to be a new career. It could be a cause you feel passionate about, or even a desire to just try something outside of your comfort zone. Whatever your vision might be, it is a new venture, and TwoPhds wants walk, well maybe skip, along with you.
