Dr. Barbie Chambers
Ever since she was little, Barbie wanted have a career in communication. From being captivated by TV commercials as a toddler to campaigning in high school to have Dairy Queen shoot a commercial in her hometown of Winters (featuring the Blizzard, her high school’s mascot), she’s always been curious about finding new ways to communicate.
Barbie received her Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Tech University with a Major in Advertising and a Minor in Marketing. She returned 15 years later to earn her Doctorate. Barbie received her Ph.D. in Communication and began teaching in the Business Communication Program.
For 25 years, Barbie worked in advertising, marketing, and public relations where she helped businesses find the most effective ways to communicate with their audiences. In the industry she conducted research, developed strategy, created content, and discovered solutions for organizations so they could accomplish their objectives.
When she isn’t teaching, Barbie enjoys spending time with her husband (Todd), two daughters (Emily and Macy), and three dogs (Tia, Tobey, and Egypt). She enjoys being creative through graphic design and photography. She also loves to collect books and has every intention of finishing all of them one day.
Dr. Corey Ann Clem
Corey has been in academia most of her life, receiving her Bachelor’s of Science in Agricultural Communication from Oklahoma State University. She then came to Texas Tech University to receive both her masters and doctoral degrees in agricultural communication. While working on her graduate degrees, Corey found a passion for teaching. In 2016, Corey joined the business communication faculty where she met Dr. Chambers, and soon Two PhDs was born.
Outside of academia, Corey has had experience with several small businesses. Coming from a family of business owners and entrepreneurs, she has always been captivated by owning her own business. Real estate was a great way to combine both her day job, and her dream job of owning her own business. Corey owns several rental properties in the Lubbock, Texas area.
Corey, her husband, Jordan, and daughter, Blakely, are also involved in one of the oldest family businesses: farming! Jordan is a cotton farmer, and is no stranger to the struggles of owning your own business. They also raise sheep, and you can find them most evenings in the barn.
